Ganesh Vasudev Mavalankar was the first speaker of the Lok Sabha of independent India. He served as the speaker of the Lok Sabha from 1952 to 1956. He was a member of the Indian National Congress and had previously served as the president of the Central Legislative Assembly, the precursor to the Lok Sabha.
